الملخص
Eighty white male albino rats were used in the present study. These animals were classified according to their ages into 4 groups (2, 6, 12 and 24 months old rats). Brain dopamine and serotonin content were decreased significantly at 24 months old rats. A significant increase in brain norepinephrine was recorded at 12 and 24 months old rats. Also the obtained data showed an increase of serum total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triacylglycerols, blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine and uric acid at 6, 12 and 24 months old rats. On the other hand, serum iron concentration, total iron binding capacity and the activity of glucose -6- phosphate dehydrogenase in the erythrocytes showed either insignificant or significant increases at 6, 12 and 24 months old rats.
