الملخص
The aims of this study were to explore pediatric nurses’ current level of knowledge and attitudes towards pediatric postoperative pain management and to determine the impact of an educational program on pediatric nurses’ knowledge and attitudes regarding postoperative pain management. Subjects and methods: the study was conducted at the surgical unit of Benha Specialized Children Hospital in Benha City. The tools used for data collection included a structured interview sheet to collect socio-demographic data about the studied nurses, the pain management needs assessment survey, and the pediatric nurses' knowledge and attitudes survey regarding pain. Results obtained from the current study revealed that the nurses lacked adequate knowledge and attitudes regarding pain management and that the educational program was effective in promoting their knowledge and attitudes. Conclusions obtained from the current study showed that the educational program had positive effect on nurses' knowledge and attitudes regarding pain management. The study recommended that the importance of pain management must be instilled early in nursing education.
