Background and Aim:Nonalcoholicsteatohepatitis (NASH) is a progressive form of liver disease that leads to advanced fibrosis. Its pathogenesis is not fully known and no specific therapeutic agents are available. Oxidative stress and inflammation play an important role in the progression from simple fatty liver to NASH. Insulin resistance (IR) is commonly associated with it. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) may also play a role in the pathogenesis of NASH.
