الملخص
Two modelling approaches for the analyses of half-space subjected to dynamic loads are presented. A three-dimensional modelling is performed by means of the Boundary Element Method (BEM) and a two-dimensional one using a coupled Boundary Element - Finite Element method (BE-FE). The comparison between the results of the presented methods points out that the
problem at hand can be treated as two-dimensional if the length to width ratio is not less than 3.
For ratios less than 1.5, the problem has to be treated as three-dimensional. As an application, a parameter study of a wave propagation problem in a train track model is presented.
