الملخص
This study triee to identify the relation between organisms isolated from the nasopharynx and those from cases of acute otitis media witn or without perforation. One hundred patients with a diagnosis of acute otitis media were studied . The or¬ganisms isolated were Streptococcus pneuminiae, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcue Aureue, Niseria species and gram negative bacilli. Sixty patients (66.7%) showed a full corr-Lai ion. 3 H patients (3.3%) showed no correla¬tion between microbes from the nasopharynx and the middle ear. In the present study 7 patients from 10 patients with subacute otitis media (70%) showed no correlation between microbes from the nasopharynx and that inside the adenoid tissue, while 3 patients (30%) showed no correlation.
Thus in cases of scute otitis media before perforation of the drum the infer-tiny organisms and their antibiotic sensitivity can be anticepated from examination of a swab from nasopharynx.
