الملخص
Dyspareunia is one of the most common but neglected female health problems that have a significant negative impact on a women's sexual function. Aim: the present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of application of PLISSIT model among primiparae with dyspareunia following puerperium. Design: quasi-experimental equivalent study (pre and posttests, non-randomized study) was utilized to fulfill the aim of this study. Setting: antenatal outpatient clinic affiliated to Benha University Hospitals. Sample: a purposive sample was selected according to inclusion criteria .The sample consisted of 200 primiparae women with dyspareunia following puerperium, they were divided into two groups (control group comprised 100 women, study group comprised 100 women). Tools: Data collected through three main tools self-administered questionnaire, dyspareunia data, Female Sexual Function Index. Results: the present study showed a highly statistically significant differences between control and study groups related to sexual domains and dyspareunia data at post-intervention phase. Conclusion: PLISSIT model had a significant effect in improving sexuality among primiparae with dyspareunia. Recommendation: Replication of PLISSIT model on wide range of women complaining dyspareunia in outpatient clinics, postpartum educational guideline should include topics about how to deal with postpartum dyspareunia and sexual problems.
