Title of thesis: Guidelines for Improving Quality of Life for Girls with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most prevalent endocrinologic disorder among women of reproductive age that can affect a woman’s menstrual cycle, fertility, hormones and aspects of her appearance. It can also affect long-term health. Eating a healthy balanced diet and meals regularly especially including breakfast and take exercise regularly are the main ways to reduce overall risk of long-term health problems regarding PCOS.
The aim of the study was to study the effect of guidelines for improving quality of life for girls with polycystic ovarian syndrome.
The study conducted in the Faculty of Nursing, Benha University.
The study design was an Intervention study.
The type of sample was a multistage sample.
The study included all girls who confirmed with PCOS (84) girl.
Tools of Data collection were interviewing questionnaire & Guidelines.
The result were Mean SD of girls’ knowledge 4.60 1.5 before guidelines and 5.70 0.4 after guidelines. Mean SD of BMI 25.74.7 before guidelines and 23.72.5 after guidelines. There was a significant improvement in the girl's knowledge 5.70 0.4 after applying guidelines. There was a significant improvement in the girl's practices after applying guidelines compared with that before applying guidelines.
The study concluded that girls with polycystic ovarian syndrome had a major deficiency and lack of knowledge of main items regarding PCOS before applying guidelines and Most of girls with polycystic ovarian syndrome didn't follow practices that related diet and exercises before applying guidelines.
