الملخص
This paper looks at the effect of globalization in the area of English language teaching (ELT) concerning the teaching of English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). It concentrates on teaching English. It is the role of the intellectual to draw parallels between English as international language and the need for the raising of Egyptian learners intellectual awareness as a means of safe guarding against the more dangerous effect of English as a global language. Therefore, this research refers to the immediate linguistic cultural and teaching environment, i.e. that of English language teaching in Egypt and the possible impact of the English language on the Egyptian culture. The paper ends with a number of methodological suggestions for the foreign language classroom.
