الملخص
Abstract:
Introduction: This prospective study is to compare the results of conservative treatment and that of ORIF by plating.
Aim: The aim of this study is to compare the results of conservative treatment and plating of the middle third fracture clavicle.
Patient and methods: The first conservative group included 39 patients with average age 30.5 years of age and the follow-up was 17. 2 months. Meanwhile, the second group included 27 patients with average age 36.8 years of and the follow-up was 19.4 months.
Results: The average constant scores were 88.8 and 93.7 for conservative and plating respectively. Complications of conservative treatment are related to the union, while that of surgical treatment are related to skin and hardware.
Conclusion: Displaced fractures of the middle third of the clavicle could be treated surgically with plates and screws. The patient can get the benefit of rigid fixation, early mobilization, fewer complications and high rate union. Conservative treatment is giving good functional results, especially in slightly displaced fractures.
