ABSTRACT
Ten pollination trials were conducted during 1996 & 1997 seasons including the following treatments: open pollination, bagging only, hand self pollination, emasculation and bagging, cross-pollination using pollen of Kronaki, Chemlali, Pocoma, Kalamata, Manzanillo and Mostazal.
Generally, Cross-pollination with Pocoma pollens or Mostazal pollens caused significant increase in fruit set, remaining fruits after June drop and mature fruits percentages. Moreover, Fruits produced by each of them were of good quality. In addition, the cytological analysis showed that each of Pocoma and Mostazal varieties had more regular chromosome behaviour than the others during meiosis division and their pollen grains were highly viable by stainable and germination tests
