Aspergillus Species Isolated from Chickens and Related Human Workers

الملخص
Mycological studies were carried out on I00 suspected chicken lungs (out of 1050 examined ones), 40 air samples collected from different chicken farms and 80 sputum samples from human beings in contact with such farms. Samples were collected from different localities in Kalioubia Governorate.
Aspergillus fumigatus was the predominant and the most pathogenic fungus isolated from chicken and man. Also A. niger and A. flavus were isolated. A. terrus was isolated only from air samples. Fattening chickens showed higher incidence (27.5%) of isolation than layers (20%), while air samples collected from layer farms were more polluted with different species of Aspergillus (60%) than those from fattening ones (26.6%).
Regarding human being sputum contaminations. Persons at layer farms showed incidence of 33.3% while those at fattening farms had (24%). Aspergilli were isolated from all age groups, 34% in 20 - 40 years groups and 20% in both groups of less than 20 years and more than 40 years. Also 1n both ma1es (29,5%) and females (27 .6%). Employees had incidence of 34%, owners 20% and veterinarians 10%. Suggestive preventive measures were discussed.
